Darcy's gallery is divided into three rooms - one for her marbled pottery - one for her raku pieces - and one for humpback whales, hand painted orcas and ikebanas. Use the links to the left to visit all three.

All of Darcy's pieces are unique, because due to the unpredictable nature of glazes, raku firing technique and coloured-clay marbling, each piece will be custom created and may not be exactly as shown. They are also lead free and food safe. They can be used in the microwave or conventional ovens. BUT it is important to heat the oven and the pottery together. Pottery does not like sudden changes in temperature.

The word "marbled" is more or less self-explanatory, and Darcy admits to being at least partly inspired by her childhood love for chocolate ripple ice cream. As becomes obvious when you wander through the galleries, the ocean and its inhabitants provide Darcy with inspiration for her decorative pieces.

Raku is an ancient type of Japanese firing dating back to the 16th century. Beautiful iridescent blues, violets, copper and crackle glazes are produced on either wheel thrown or sculptural pottery. The pottery is fired to 1800° and then "reduced" in a chamber which catches fire immediately. The fire uses up all the oxygen in both glaze and chamber, thus producing one of a kind results.
